Agriculture Investments by Agriculture People

Harvest Acquisitions is a private investment group comprised of like-minded agricultural professionals looking to diversify their net worth by investing in small to mid-sized, profitable Canadian agribusinesses. The group focuses on businesses already in operation, aiming for a strong return on invested capital.

Harvest Acquisitions acquires and owns agrifood and agribusinesses in Canada, leveraging equity contributions from farmers and agribusiness professionals. Their aim it to ensure the ongoing prosperity and expansion of these acquisitions, while maintaining the existing management teams and staff within those businesses.

HISTORY

The idea for Harvest Acquisitions was born out of a coffee meeting between Terry Betker of Backswath Management and Brent Metcalfe. Recognizing a desire among farmers and agricultural professionals seeking to fortify their portfolios while staying rooted in the familiar terrain of the agriculture sector, they embarked on a mission to bridge this gap. Their conversations unveiled a collective appetite for more hands-on involvement and deeper insight into investment endeavors, beyond the confines of traditional market avenues. This revelation laid the cornerstone for Harvest Acquisitions.

In the fall of 2022, the incumbent President and CEO collaborated with Terry Betker, alongside Josée Lemoine and the Backswath team, to refine and realize this pioneering vision. By April 2023, Harvest Acquisitions became a reality, bolstered by investments from 19 initial investors. Since inception, Harvest Acquisitions has diligently scoured the landscape for promising investment opportunities, rigorously vetting each opportunity to ensure alignment with shareholder interests. Concurrently, the company has garnered additional capital infusion through the inclusion of new investors.

Harvest Acqusitions is led a strong Board of Directors who oversee operations and provide strategic guidance in the curation of investment opportunities presented to shareholders.
